LOCAL AREA

Nerja is a delightful and unspoilt seaside town, which lies some 50 kilometres east of Malaga.  The area is one of outstanding natural beauty situated in the midst of a luxurious tropical valley and protected by two spectacular mountain ranges.  A superb drive along winding mountain roads through the famed city of Granada takes you to breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada with its popular ski resort, approximately 2hrs away.  The scenery is magnificent and the splendour of the high mountain passes superb.

The world-famous Caves of Nerja are just on the doorstep, with their huge subterranean caverns, stalactites and stalagmites.  Concerts are held in the caves annually in July.  The countryside surrounding Nerja is full of natural beauty and ideal for hiking and mountain biking.  Scuba diving expeditions which leave from Burriana Beach are suitable for both experienced and novice divers, and guided walking tours are a feature of the area.
